Day Seven Sunday

We got all 16 classrooms painted!  YAY! The main mural is complete thanks to Auntie A and Maxx’s new fave,  Vanessa.  I started repainting the school logo mural and spent all day up on a very high ladder.  It’s been good for strengthening the core muscles.  Maxx helped for awhile and then ran off with a gaggle of children with the ultra bouncy ball he brought for them.  We’ve got a lot of touch up and another mural to do before heading home in a couple of days.  Broke my second toe playing keep away soccer with the kids last night in flip flops in the dark on the bricks....they are sooo good already.  Well worth it.  Maxx has declared himself absolutely, positively vegetarian after seeing Billy the goat (outside this morning bleating) hanging from the tree, stripped and cut in half (thank god the head was gone) at the end of the day.  Now I am drawing stencils for the birds that will be flying across the school.

What we learned today:

Its not Bucky,  its Bakkie (Africaan for pick-up).  If you don’t have it, make it.  The cutoff bottoms of plastic bottles make great paint bowls.  Cheese and Onion chips are yummy,  so is the cottage cheese.  Students, Summer, Lisa and Josh are great fun and wonderful to Maxx (they are all staying with us too).  Josh is an expert in Minecraft (Maxx is in heaven).   Lisa is an amazing teacher,  perfect for Cascade Canyon School (can we hire a Canadian?).
